You already reconnu1 that bottom trawling can damage ecosystems, but you continue to deny the moratorium on bottom trawling.
I want to remind you that this decision goes against your mandate2, which is to develop and implement policies and programs in support of scientific interests, environmental, social and economic interests in oceans and inland waters.
You can both prônez3 responsible fishing in high seas and in our own waters and simultaneously be against a ban on trawling gear.
By destroying the seabed with a practice that looks like a clearcut, together you destroy the economic future of the fishing industry.
Now, how can you affirmer4 that Canada is a leading national and international maritime safety and ocean management?
